This chainset is at the heart of the SRAM 2 x 10 system - i.e. the combination of double 28/42t chainset with a wide-range 10-speed cassette creates a lighter weight, simpler, low Q-factor, MTB transmission for fitter XC riders who might never need a 22t granny gear. Crank construction - integrated carbon / aluminium composite for flex-free lightweight efficiency. The oversized CNC-machined 7075 aluminium X-Glide chainrings are 2mm thicker than regular MTB rings so they're going to last much longer. The increased 120/80 Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD) reinforces the crankset's stiffness. The X-Glide chainring's 4 upshift locations can be picked up by any outer chain link for near-instant gear shifts. AL-7075-T6 bolts. Low (156mm) Q factor - that is the distance (measured parallel to the bottom bracket axle) between the pedal holes on the crank arms. This determines how far your feet are apart on the pedals. In terms of biomechanics, efficiency and feel it's generally recommended that you don't want your pedals too far apart. The Q factor of a regular MTB triple chainset is around 180mm. The low Q factor is achieved thanks to the bevelled crank arms which help ensure chainstay clearance. Made for SRAM PC 1090 / 1090R 10-speed chain. Approximate weight: 754g including bottom bracket (not supplied).
