Road bike chainsets
Chainsets on road and touring bikes will generally come in two different formats, triple and double. Triple means three chainrings on the front and double means two. Serious riders will usually take the double option to lessen weight and because a good light racing bike usually does not need so many gears as it is simply less effort to ride one. Triple chainsets are usually found on lower end bikes and a few high end ones to give less experienced or less fit riders the option of more gears. There is no right option, it's purely subjective.
